Those people call themselves Tobu, native to the desert triangle that includes the three contiguous countries of Libya, Chad and Niger. Although African in democile, their appearance does not bear resembelence to the typical sub saharan black person with which the rest of the world is familiar. So diverse are the sources that explain their origins, some ascribe them to the ancient Garamantes that were know to have built an advanced civilization in ancient southwestern Libya northern Chad and and Niger, some sources suggest their origins to be from ancient Yemen before the breach and destruction of the Marib Dam, another source claims them to be natives to the Tibesti mountains in northern Chad before they were displaced by floods, thus forcing them to seek refuge northwards. They possess a unique set of traditions and cultural practices that differ from their Arab and Sub saharan neighbors, namely, never marrying their from the households of relatives, and refusing to socially assimilate with other communities that surround them.

They're Muslim in religion, and of the Sunni sect, in fact, they subscribe to no other religious or sectarian denomination. Their strange liking for the past makes them barely remembered by the present and future. They're apt at uncovering their ancestral line as well as good at keeping up with each other's life situations and that of strangers. As with regards to strangers, they harbor no trust whatsoever, excessively prideful, and group-conscious and will not relanquish any of that at the price of death. If you happened to stumble on them, you are to be treated with affection and respect, and if you seek refuge to them from danger, you are to be protected and sheltered, however, if you are reach to them with the intent of aggression, their women will fight you before the men do, and you will not come out unscathed.
